FreePassportPhoto.in ("we", "us", "our") is a free online tool that helps users create compliant passport photos, compress images, resize images, and generate ID card PDFs. The website is operated by an individual based in India and is not a formally registered business entity.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the site. We do not require account creation or login for any free tool.

Data you provide directly

• Photos and images — uploaded by you to use our passport photo, image compressor, image resizer, or ID card tools. See Section 3 for how we handle these.
• Contact form submissions — your name, email address, and message text if you use our contact form.
• Payment information — if you purchase a premium feature, your payment is processed by Razorpay. We do not receive or store your card details. See Section 7.

Data collected automatically

• Log data — your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages visited, recorded automatically by our web server for security and diagnostic purposes.
• Cookies — small text files placed on your device by our site and by third-party services. See Section 4.
• Usage data — page views, tool interactions, and session duration, collected via Google Analytics.
• Device information — screen size, device type, and browser language, collected by analytics and advertising services.

3. How We Handle Your Photos

Your privacy regarding uploaded photos is our top priority. Here is exactly what happens to any photo or image you upload:

• Processing is session-based — your photos are held temporarily in your browser session only for the duration of your visit.
• No permanent storage — we do not write uploaded photos to any permanent database or file storage. Images are deleted automatically when your session ends.
• No sharing — we do not share, sell, or transmit your photos to any third party, except where you explicitly use the background removal feature (which sends the image to remove.bg — see Section 8).
• No training use — your photos are not used to train any AI model or machine learning system.
• Server-side processing — some processing (PDF generation, cropping) happens on our server using temporary files. These files are automatically cleaned up within 1 hour.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies on this site. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us and third parties recognise you, remember preferences, and deliver relevant ads.

Types of cookies we use

• Session cookies — essential cookies that keep your uploaded images and tool state active during your visit. These are deleted when you close your browser.

7. Payments — Razorpay

Some features on this site (such as premium PDF downloads) require a one-time payment processed by Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway based in India.

• What Razorpay collects: Your name, email address, phone number, and payment card details (processed directly by Razorpay — we never see or store your card number).
• What we receive: A payment confirmation reference only. We do not store payment card details on our servers.
• Purpose: To process your payment and verify that premium access has been granted.

By using our premium payment features, you agree to Razorpay's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in addition to ours.

8. Background Removal — remove.bg

Our passport photo generator offers an optional automatic background removal feature powered by remove.bg, an AI-based image processing service operated by Kaleido AI GmbH (Austria).

• When this applies: Only when you explicitly use the background removal feature. The image is not sent unless you trigger this step.
• What is sent: Your uploaded photo is transmitted to remove.bg's servers for processing.
• Retention by remove.bg: remove.bg states it deletes uploaded images from its servers within 24 hours of processing.
• Purpose: To remove the background from your photo and replace it with a compliant white or light grey background.

If you do not wish to use this feature, you can manually position your photo against a plain white wall without using background removal.

9. Other Third-Party Services

Google Fonts

We use Google Fonts to display certain typefaces. When you visit a page using Google Fonts, your browser may request the font files from Google's servers. Google may log this request including your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Font Awesome

We use Font Awesome for icons. Icon files are loaded from Cloudflare's CDN. Cloudflare may collect standard server log data including IP addresses. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare CDN

Our website uses Cloudflare for security, performance, and content delivery. Cloudflare may process your IP address and request data as part of its service. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

10. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• With service providers — Google Analytics, Adsterra, Razorpay, remove.bg, and Cloudflare, each solely for the purpose described in this policy.
• For legal reasons — if required to do so by law, court order, or government authority in India or another applicable jurisdiction.
• To protect rights — if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

We do not share your photos or personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party not listed in this policy.

11. How Long We Keep Data

• Uploaded photos: Deleted at session end (within 1 hour maximum).
• Contact form messages: Retained for up to 12 months for correspondence purposes, then deleted.
• Server logs: Retained for up to 30 days for security purposes, then automatically deleted.
• Analytics data: Retained by Google Analytics per Google's standard data retention settings (14 months by default).
• Payment records: Retained by Razorpay per their legal obligations. We retain only the payment reference ID for up to 3 years for our records.

12. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:

• HTTPS encryption on all pages and data transmissions
• Session-based (not permanent) photo storage
• Automatic deletion of temporary files within 1 hour
• No storage of payment card details on our servers
• Cloudflare DDoS and security protection

No website can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately at the address in Section 16.

13. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Users between 13 and 18 should use our services only with parental consent.

14. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to correction — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Right to deletion — you can ask us to delete your personal data, subject to legal obligations.
