Different government portals and document types require specific pixel dimensions. Uploading the wrong size is one of the most common reasons for portal rejection. Use this reference table to find the exact dimensions needed:
| Document / Portal | Width × Height (px) | Format | Authority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indian Passport | 413 × 531 px 35×45 mm | JPG | MEA / Passport Seva |
| Aadhaar Card | 413 × 531 px 35×45 mm | JPG | UIDAI |
| PAN Card (NSDL) | 295 × 413 px 25×35 mm | JPG | Protean / NSDL |
| PAN Card (UTIITSL) | 213 × 213 px | JPG | UTIITSL |
| UPSC / NDA / CDS | 413 × 531 px | JPG | UPSC Portal |
| SSC CGL / CHSL / MTS | 100 × 120 px Very small | JPG | SSC Portal |
| IBPS PO / Clerk / SBI PO | 200 × 230 px | JPG | IBPS / SBI Portal |
| NEET / JEE (NTA) | 200 × 230 px | JPG | NTA Portal |
| US Visa / Passport | 600 × 600 px 2×2 inch | JPG | US State Dept |

Resize Image Now →Choosing the wrong resize mode is the most common cause of distorted or incorrectly padded output images. Here is exactly when to use each mode:
Scales your image to fit within the target dimensions while keeping original proportions. Adds white padding to fill remaining space if the aspect ratios differ.
Best for: passport photos, document uploadsScales and crops your image to fill the target dimensions exactly — no padding, no whitespace. Some edges may be cropped depending on aspect ratio difference.
Best for: profile pictures, thumbnailsForces the image to exact dimensions regardless of original proportions. Can distort faces and objects. Only use when the portal strictly requires exact dimensions with no padding.
Use with caution — can distort facesWhen enabled, entering width automatically calculates height (and vice versa) to preserve the original proportions. Prevents accidental stretching when you only know one target dimension.
Best for: general resizing tasksSocial media platforms crop and compress your images on upload. Providing the correct dimensions avoids unexpected cropping and quality loss:
| Platform | Image Type | Recommended Size | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Square post | 1080 × 1080 px | Most common format | |
| Portrait post | 1080 × 1350 px | Maximum vertical coverage | |
| Story / Reel | 1080 × 1920 px | Full screen vertical | |
| Post image | 1200 × 630 px | Landscape crop | |
| Profile photo | 170 × 170 px | Displayed at 170×170 on desktop | |
| Twitter / X | Post image | 1200 × 675 px | 16:9 ratio |
| Profile photo | 400 × 400 px | Minimum — use 800×800 for quality | |
| Post image | 1200 × 627 px | Landscape format | |
| Profile photo | 500 × 500 px | Displayed as circle | |
| YouTube | Thumbnail | 1280 × 720 px | 16:9, minimum 2MB file |
Scaling an image down (smaller) has minimal quality impact when done at 80%+ quality settings — the result looks nearly identical to the original. Scaling up (making larger) always reduces sharpness because the tool has to invent pixels that were not there originally. For best results, always start from the largest available version of your photo and scale down to the required size.
Upload your photo and enter Width: 200, Height: 230. If your original photo has a different aspect ratio, use Fit mode — this scales the photo to fit within 200×230 and adds white padding on the sides or top/bottom. This is the correct approach for passport-style photos where the face must remain undistorted. Avoid Stretch mode for face photos.
No tool can truly add detail that does not exist in the original photo — all upscaling involves some quality loss. Standard upscaling makes images look soft or blurry. Our tool does basic upscaling which is fine for small size increases (e.g. 10–20% larger). For significant upscaling, dedicated AI upscaling tools like Topaz Gigapixel give better results, but those are separate paid tools.
WhatsApp compresses photos when sent as images — it reduces them to approximately 1600×1600 px at its own compression level. To share without quality loss, send as a Document instead of a Photo. If you need to resize before sending, 1600px width at 85% quality gives good results without WhatsApp's additional compression making it visibly worse.
Blurriness after resizing usually means: (1) you upscaled a small photo to a much larger size, (2) you used a low quality setting (below 70%), or (3) you are using a lossy format (JPG) and compressing repeatedly. Always start from the original high-resolution photo. If the original is blurry, no resize tool can fix it — retake the photo.
Batch resizing of up to 20 images simultaneously is available with Premium access (₹50 for 24 hours). All images are resized with the same settings and downloaded as a ZIP file. This is useful for photographers, form-filling agents, and HR teams processing multiple ID photos at once.
Free users can upload images up to 50MB. Premium users can upload up to 100MB per image. For standard passport and document photos, even high-resolution phone photos are well under 10MB, so this limit is rarely reached in normal use.
Visa photo dimensions vary by country. For US visa: 600×600 px (2×2 inch) with white background. For UK visa: 413×531 px (35×45 mm) with light grey background. For Schengen visa: 413×531 px with white background. For Indian passport: 413×531 px with white background. Use our Passport Photo Requirements page for a complete country-by-country guide.
